The TY students who studied spanish for their Junior Cert completed a project as part of their peer teaching module. The Ty students were required to develop some sort of spanish game or activity that would be played with the current first year students who are studying spanish. This would help improve and make learning spanish more enjoyable for them.
On the 23rd of September the TY students presented their projects to the first years in two separate locations within the school.
Before the first years came into the classroom and into the library the TY students were in their project groups in order to set up their stations. There were seven different stations based in the school library with a different activity at each table. Some projects games included matching the word to the picture in spanish and number matching.
When the first year class came into the library Mr.Fernandez and his TY students greeted the first years and brought them inside and showed them what was going on. The TY’s went to their stations with their project games and activities and let the first year students come around to them group by group. When they were done at one station they would move on to the next station until they finished.
Overall the peer teaching went very well and it seemed that the first year students enjoyed learning from the TY’s and that they were having fun and learning new information.
Thank you for all of the TY students who helped out today as part of their peer teaching module.
