With Christmas just around the corner the festive spirit was turned up a notch this week in St. David's Holy Faith Secondary School.
At the beginning of the week two Christmas trees arrived which were decorated by some of the Transition Year students.
This was followed on Monday afternoon by the preparations for the visit of Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and four of the head elves to St. Catherine's school. Students dressed up in costume to develop Christmas cards and record some of their favourite Christmas carols.
On Wednesday each student in the school was presented with a selection box by Ms. O' Doherty and Mr. Carey. Each year group was called one at a time to the dining area to receive this early Christmas gift.
On Friday two major events took place. Firstly there was a whole school non-uniform/Christmas jumper day. This day was arranged to raise much needed funds for Cystic Fibrosis and Down Syndrome Ireland. students were encouraged to wear some sort of Christmas attire but could also choose to wear non uniform clothing for the day.
In addition to the non-uniform day Transition Year students also took part in a Christmas fun day. The day was split into different components such as watching Christmas movies, playing board games and designing Christmas cards while listening to Christmas music.
Throughout the week the various class groups within the school began the task of decorating their classrooms. As the week has progressed more and more classes have gotten into the Christmas spirit and began the decorating process. A team of TY students have been tasked with taking photographs of these rooms next week and photos will be posted!
With just over one week to go the students of St. David's are definitely experiencing the Christmas spirit!
