St. David’s Holy Faith Secondary School, Greystones and Temple Carrig Greystones to host #Wicklowspeaks Town Hall Event Stephen Donnelly and Simon Harris attend this event in their old secondary school to debate. Both schools’ Politics and Society departments and students have collaborated to bring an evening of discussion and impartial information to the constituents of Wicklow. Confirmed attendance to date: Simon Harris (FG), Stephen Donnelly (FF), Steven Matthews (Green Party), Jennifer Whitmore (Soc Dems), Paul O’Brien (Labour), John Larkin (Independent). The event is intended to follow the town hall format, whereby candidates for the Wicklow constituency will present their views and ideas for the Wicklow constituency and the nation to the public, should they be elected. The event is an objective, impartial service to voters of Wicklow. This event stemmed from both schools’ very successful drives to add 18 year old students to the register of electors. During that campaign it was noted that one of the major concerns for newly registered voters was how to know who to vote for. The politics students, in the spirit of the new Politics and Society Leaving Certificate subject taught in both schools, organised this event to address this situation. The candidates will have 2-3 minutes to share their vision for the constituency and the nation. Rigorous questioning from the newly registered voters will follow, along with public questions posed through our independent moderator. This event will take place on Thursday the 30th at 7:30 pm in St. David’s Holy Faith Secondary School, Greystones. A very limited amount of tickets are available for this event at https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/91135547877. No admission on the night without a ticket. Comments are closed.
