The owners of the cafés and restaurants of Greystones must have been wondering where their customers had disappeared to on the evening of Tuesday the 2nd of October. What seemed like the entire community descended on St. David's Holy Faith Secondary School for the annual open night. The evening certainly lived up to expectations for all involved.
Current students of the school provided tours of the building which covered all the different subject areas. The following is not a list of everything but just some of the busiest areas on the night. There were rat dissections and microscopes in the biology lab, atmospheric pressure experiments in the chemistry lab. still art in the art room and plenty of baking in the home economics kitchen. Downstairs in construction the excellent projects of last years sixth year students were laid out. There were quizzes galore such as in the religion room. a reenactment of famine times in the history room and a display of the vast array of PE equipment in the hall. In addition several of the schools clubs and societies set up to show their skills and talents. These clubs included hobbies club and chess.
At seven o' clock a proportion of the crowd gathered in the school dining where an address from the Principal and Deputy Principal take place. To say there wasn't a seat to be had in the dining area doesn't quite encompass the large crowds present!
A massive thank you must go out to all students who helped out on the night for tours and to those who helped out in the different subject areas but most of all thank you to everyone who attended and we hope that you managed to get a taster for what St. David's is all about!
