The Transition Year Graduation and Expo took place on the evening of Monday 20th of May. The showcase was developed to allow students the chance to share some of their work and achievements throughout the year with their families. The evening began with the awards ceremony. Each student was presented with a pack which contained various certificates of some of the achievements of students throughout the year. Students also received photographs from some of the trips they had been on. Mr. O'Dowd and Ms. Courtney then proceeded to present some of the awards from this year's tour to Barcelona. Some of the winners included Roy Byrne, Mr. Brave and Dan Hicks, Mr. Greedy!
Next it was time for the 'Spirit of Transition Year' award. Each year this award is presented to a student who has fully embraced the values of Transition Year. Anna Minton was announced as this year's winner on account of her wonderful work, positive attitude and commitment throughout the year.
Following on from the awards and presentations, students and parents were invited to the sports hall. Students had arranged a large sample of their work from throughout the year. The different stations included the various subjects that students undertake in TY along with many of the additional projects that run alongside the curriculum. The vast array of student work on display was quite extraordinary.
Well done to all the teachers and students involved in setting up this wonderful TY showcase but a special mention must go to Ms. Brosnan, TY Co-ordinator, and her team of TY students who worked tirelessly in the lead up to the exhibition to ensure it's success!
