1st Year Rugby vs East Glendalough

1/18/2019

On the 17th of January, the St. David’s 1st Year Boys were set to face East Glendalough at Greystones Rugby Club. David’s had high hopes coming into this match as they had tackled many issues in training which arose in previous matches. It was clearly evident before the match that EGS had a big size advantage on their side but David’s would not let this fact overcome them. Conditions would suit for a good game of rugby on the day.

David’s brought the game to EGS straight from kickoff, letting their presence known in the tackles and rucks. First try of the game came from a brilliant David’s move with Adam Redmond crossing the try-line.
However, EGS fired back with 3 tries only before David’s returned with another before the halftime whistle. Halftime score 10-19 to EGS.

After the second half had kicked off, EGS had really started pick up their game. Our 1st years struggled to deal with East Glendalough’s exhausting attacked as they progressed through their phases. David’s did come back with 2 tries but game had already slipped from their grasp. Final score 20-64 to EGS. Tries for David’s coming from Adam Redmond, Cian O’Longaigh, Jack O’Neill and Mike O’Neill.
