On Wednesday 7th October, our Junior Cycle class of 2026 finally received their long-awaited exam results.

During the final class of the school day, each tutor group from the last academic year were called down to the foyer to receive a brief word of congratulations from Mr. Carey, Ms. O'Sullivan and Mr. Davies before receiving their results with nervous excitement. After tremendous hard work over the previous three years, they enjoyed the sensation of opening envelopes to great news as they received a remarkable set of results across all subjects.

Following the release of the anticipatory energy, students had the opportunity to share the moment with friends, classmates and teachers in the car park outside over an ice-cream - and the rain even decided to take a break from its daily October habit in celebration of the incredible grades being received.

A total of 1,165 exams were completed by our 119 students who sat their exams last June 2026 with the breakdown as follows:

- 176 Distinctions (85 - 100%) achieved, which is 15.2% attainment rate, double the national average

- 525 Higher Merits (70 - 84%) achieved, which is 45.1%

- 330 Merits (55 - 69%) achieved, which 28.2%

- 99 Achieved (40 - 54%) achieved, which is 8.5%

- 35 Partially Achieved (20 - 39%) achieved, which is 3%

- 0 No grade (0 - 19%) 0%

Whilst we are proud of each and every student who achieved such remarkable results, a special mention goes to a group who particularly excelled. Three students obtained 8 Distinctions: Isabel Deane-Jermin, May Flynn and Gillian Delos Reyes. Three students obtained 7 Distinctions - Aoibh Geoghegan, Carla Schembari and Siún Ní Dhálaigh. Two students obtained 6 Distinctions - Hannah Cartmell and Fionn Clarke Twomey. Four students obtained 5 Distinctions - Cian Fickett, James Gallagher, Julia Kane and Anna Weidenhammer, while a further 45 students achieved between 1 - 4 Distinctions.

An extra special mention goes to the irrepressible Sara Tidd. Sara's diligence and determination paid off in outstanding style as she was awarded Distinctions in all 10 of her subjects - a testament to the relentlessly positive attitude she brings every day to St David's. Well done to everyone on their success on such a momentous day!
