On Thursday, 7th of March, our Junior Girls rugby team travelled to Balbriggan for a Leinster Blitz. They left the school at 8.45am and arrived at Balbriggan for 10 o’clock. They completed a quick warm up in preparation for their first match against High School, Terenure.
With seven minutes in each half, St David's put in a great effort and were unlucky to not come away with a try from their first match. Similarly for their next match against Holy Faith, the girls put in a massive effort, but were unlucky to not come away with a score.
The girls were a lot more successful in their next two matches, with a try from Maja Bochenek against Ardgillan. And in their final match against Edmund Rice, Saorla Purcell scored the first two tries, followed by Martina Majcher. Edmund Rice responded but this was followed by a brilliant run by Aoibhe Keating who passed it off to Evelyn Kirwan to score the try! The last try was scored by Sofia Hanson to finish the game 5-2 to St David's!
It was a great day enjoyed by all, and a massive well done to the girls and their coach, Ms. Richardson!
