Think Languages day took place on the 29th November 2023. It is a national day for TYs to highlight the importance of modern foreign languages in our lives and future careers.
The TYs organised and implemented a huge number of activities on the day. They took part in these activities in their language classes. The day started off with food tasting with the TYs cooking different dishes from around the world. There was a huge variety of dishes from tiramisu, Spanish tortilla, currywurst and even sushi. There were also different activities and talks throughout the day delivered by TYs in languages such as French, Spanish, Polish, Ukrainian, Tagalog and Italian. Everyone also got face paint with their favourite flags.
There was a tango workshop for everyone in the year. It was run by Lucia and Gerry and they taught some simple tango steps that everybody practised with their partner. Everybody had a great day, full of fun and different languages.
It couldn’t have been possible without the tireless work of Ms Foynes, Ms Slee and the TY organisers Finn Morris and Melissa Parry. Everybody learned something and they gained a deeper knowledge of different cultures around the world.
