On Friday November 7th our 1st Year Boy’s Soccer Team took on Temple Carrig in a league match at Greystones United F.C.
The game started off very evenly, with both sides creating plenty of chances and goalkeeper Noah Byrne pulling off some great saves. After the initial stalemate, TCG was able to take the lead after a ball was unluckily played through the St. David's defense. A few minutes later, Alfie Monahan produced a spectacular strike from just outside the box drawing David's level again. Unfortunately the lead was short lived and David’s fell behind again with TCG making it 2-1. However, the boys were not disheartened and their comeback began with Senan Das Dores capitalising on a goalkeeping error getting St. David's another equalizer. Senan then added to his goal tally by scoring a great goal shortly before half time to make the score 3-2.
The lads came into half time after an action packed first half. A few words from their coach Mr. McMenamin had them ready to go for the second half. Early on in the second half David's added to their lead as Oscar Kikta finished off a great cross from Alfie. More insanely good goals from Kris Schaffer and Robbie Willis lead to the final score being a 6-2 win for St. David's. A great result !
This was a great win for our 1st Year Boy’s Soccer team. A huge thanks also goes to their coach Mr. McMenamin and to Greystones F.C for hosting.
