On the 2nd of March, our First Year Boy’s Gaelic team played a match against Arklow, at home in Éire Óg.

The game kicked off at 11:10 and the lads were off to a great start with an amazing offense, leading to an early point scored by Robbie. Arklow tried to counter attack after the point but David’s managed to tackle the ball off them and went on to score another point thanks to Ollie. The lads kept up the pressure and followed up with two more points before Arklow scored one of their own. To finish the first half off, we had a penalty where Paddy scored a goal to solidify our lead at 1 goal and 4 points to Arklow’s 1 point.

The second half went even better as the fresh subs came on the pitch and using great communication and teamwork, the lads could not be stopped. Paddy scored another 2 points and a goal and Ethan scored a point as well gaining a huge lead in the match. Although the defense was spectacular and Noah made many saves, the Arklow team scored another point. The lads weren’t put off though and continued to make great plays, scoring another three points when the Arklow team scored a goal. The game was coming to an end at this point and both teams gave it their all to finish strong with a point scored by Paddy. Arklow retaliated with their own point but David’s quickly scored yet another point closing the match spectacularly. At full time the score was 2 goals and 13 points to St. David’s to Arklow’s 1 goal and 3 points.

Well done to the lads for playing so exceptionally with a special mention to Paddy for his spectacular work. A huge thank you to Mr. Lawless for coaching, to Arklow’s team for playing, to the referee and to Éire Óg for facilitating the match.
