On Thursday, the 19th of March, our 1st Year Boys took part in a hurling blitz down in the Ballinakill Centre of Excellence. They played against a multitude of teams, including Scoil Chonglais, Presentation Bray and Colaiste Bhride, showing immense determination and teamwork in each and every one.

To kick off the day, their coach, Mr. Crowe, led the lads through a great warm up which boosted their energy and raised their spirits.

David’s started off the day fantastically. They won their first game against Scoil Chonglais convincingly, with goals from all over the pitch. Their lead started early on, with goals coming from Paddy Johnston who proved to be a key player throughout the whole blitz. They were able to increase the lead and make a comfortable separation between the two sides before the half ended. When the whistle blew, Mr. Crowe got the boys in for a team talk and readied them for the second half. The second half was just as good as the first, with the lads keeping up the strong and confident energy. This really benefited them as they were able to continue scoring goals, leading them to the win.

Shortly after, they went on to play the next team - Presentation Bray. This match went a little differently to the last game as they were against a very tough team. Our first years boys still put up a great fight and showed exceptional skill and sportsmanship.

This strength and teamwork continued through to their last match against Colaiste Bhride, with the lads showcasing some absolutely amazing performances. Overall it was a great day out, providing some fantastic learning opportunities, allowing the lads to fully experience working as a team together. They put up such a good fight in some very tough matches and should be extremely proud of themselves.
