Zambia Immersion Trip 2026
Our students and staff recently returned from an unforgettable, life-changing immersion trip to Zambia, where 20 of our students, accompanied by our Deputy Principal, Huw Davies, and three teachers, Ms. Noone, Ms. Courtney and Mr. Hassett, experienced a week of deep cultural exchange, community work, and adventure.
This marked our second trip to Nsobe after our initial visit in October 2025, cementing a long-term relationship that our school looks forward to continuing to build as we support the local community into the future.
Our students were outstanding in their engagement across all activities, representing our school community with immense maturity, empathy, and energy. Here is a look back at an incredible journey of relationship-building and learning.
Nsobe Camp
The core of our trip was spent working alongside the local community, where our group received the warmest welcome. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the community of Nsobe for their incredible hospitality and for making us feel so at home throughout our stay.
Prior to departing, our students worked tirelessly on fundraising initiatives to help fund their travel and raise significant donations for the schools. Because of this dedication, our group was able to give back directly to the projects they worked on:
In the Classroom: Our students stepped into Nsobe Primary School and Nsobe Secondary School, assisting teachers, working directly with children in classrooms, and running small-group reading sessions and sports coaching.
Hands-On Projects: Beyond teaching, our group rolled up their sleeves to help improve the school infrastructure, taking part in plastering and painting the school buildings.
Cultural Exchanges: One of the absolute highlights was a special assembly where our students bravely stood up and sang in front of the entire secondary school, showcasing a beautiful moment of shared culture.
After busy days of volunteering, evenings at Nsobe Camp were a time for connection and reflection.
The group enjoyed fantastic local hospitality and lovely food at the camp where they relaxed in the evenings in the pool. One of the highlights was a night safari trip where some of the local wildlife was spotted.
Livingstone & Chobe Safari
After an emotional farewell to Nsobe, the group embarked on an epic 15-hour bus journey down south, packed with brilliant milestones:
A Warm Irish Welcome: Midway through our long transit, we stopped at the Irish Embassy for a wonderful breakfast, a fantastic taste of home during a long travel day.
Livingstone & Botswana: We wrapped up our journey with a two-night stay in Livingstone. From there, the group crossed the border into Botswana for a breathtaking one-day Safari in Chobe National Park, getting up close with incredible African wildlife.
Our 20 students returned home with global perspectives, broadened horizons, and bonds that will last a lifetime. We are incredibly proud of how they threw themselves into every single aspect of this journey, and we look forward to sending our next cohort next year!
