1st Year Boys Soccer Match - January '24

A massive well done to St David’s 1st Year boys who started strong against Carnew.  The defence was very solid and was resisting a lot of attacks.  Midway into the first half, we were very unlucky to concede a goal.  Still, they kept their heads up and continued to play great football.  Dylan Hatton Donegan scored a super goal to equalise the game before halftime.  We all weren’t sure if the ball had crossed the line, but when the referee gave us the goal, the St David’s supporters went wild.  There was a great game in store for us now.

The boys started the second half really well.  They had great momentum and showed some very promising attacks.  Shortly into the half, St David’s gave away a penalty which was converted well.  This put St David’s 2-1 down.  However, the boys stayed positive and seemed unfazed by the goal. Dylan Hatton Donegan scored another amazing goal after passing multiple defenders to equalise the game again. They kept up the attacks and it looked like a goal was coming for us.  The full time whistle blew.

Extra time started at 2-2 and the tensions were high.  In the second half of extra time, St David’s conceded a penalty with under 10 minutes left. This put Carnew 3-2 ahead.  Unfortunately, it ended at this score but it was an extremely exciting game against a great side.  There will be more football soon with the shield just around the corner.
