On Monday the 1st of December, the First Year Boys' soccer team took on CCA, Kilcoole. It was a rainy and cold morning however that did not stop St David’s. The match kicked off at 12:00. From the first whistle the boys were determined to put up a strong performance.
The lads did some amazing defending and passing from the very start. St David’s won a corner and with no doubt Ryan Synott smashed it into the goal. This led the two schools to be tied after an early CCA goal. There was a lot of determination from both schools as the standard was so high. The match remained level for the first half.
In the second half, St David’s started off strong with a cracking goal from Isa Irwin, making it 2-1. CCA were coming close to St David's half but there was some terrific blocking and communication by the boys. After clearing the ball out of their half, Paddy Johnson scored an astounding goal. Shortly after, Senan DasDores brought home the win with another great goal. CCA attempted to come back, scoring a goal. However they were no match to the David’s lads. This left the final score at 4-2 to David’s.
St David’s put up an amazing, strong fight and got the result they wanted to achieve. Thank you to CCA for giving the boys such a good match, and to Greystones United for facilitating the game. Well done lads!
