Our 1st Year Girls' GAA team were in action on Wednesday 18th of March in an intense blitz with Loreto Bray and Coláiste Ráithín.

In the first game, a team led by Mr. Tierney put up an excellent fight against Coláiste Ráithín but were unfortunately defeated. They showed steady improvement throughout the match and stayed incredibly competitive against such a tough team. There are plenty of positives to take from this game and the girls should be proud of their determination.

In the second game, Mr. Cummins' team faced off against Loreto Bray in a keenly-contested match. St David’s unfortunately went behind by a goal early on, fighting to equalise the score with a goal from Ella. Loreto managed to sneak another few scores before halftime, leaving the score line at 1-0 to 4-0. The David’s girls were not discouraged by Loreto's lead, knowing that they were still in the game and could very possibly bring the lead back into their favour.

After some motivation from Mr. Cummins the girls were ready for the second half. St. David’s continued playing some exceptional football, showing amazing teamwork and perseverance. However, Loreto added a further 2 goals and 3 points to their lead. Lucia managed to grab a skillful goal towards the end but unfortunately it wasn't enough and the girls lost 6-4 to 2-1.

Both teams put up a great fight over both games and a huge thanks goes to Bray Emmets for the facilities. A massive thank you also to coaches Mr. Cummins and Mr. Tierney.
