Avondale Cross Country 21/10

On a cold and damp Tuesday afternoon on the 21st of October our incredible athletes from first and second year travelled down to Avondale to compete in the cross country. They arrived at 11:45 and were raring to go, well practiced after training every Thursday after school in the run club.

The events began with the first year girls who were running 1500 meters. Representing our school was Megan Driver and Rachel Cardey. Both placed within the top 30 out of over 60 people. Then came our 1st year boys with Kai Dunney Devlin, Oisin Shea, Darragh Holohan and Jude O’Gorman. All of the boys performed extremely well and managed to make the top 20. Next was the second year girls, Ava Doran and Connie Lewis. Both reached top 30 and Connie Lewis even managed to come 10th! An incredible achievement.

Though the weather was not ideal, our athletes' spirits were never dampened. They put their best effort in and made our school proud. We hope that they can continue to perform as exceptionally as this throughout this year. Well done to everyone involved and in particular thank you to Ms. Synnott for accompanying the students to Avondale.
