The First and Second Year Boys' Gaelic football team played a fantastic blitz on the 26th of March against their rivals at Greystones Community College. The blitz was played in Éire Óg.
St David's and GCC both fielded 3 teams and every team played each other, allowing for five shortened games per team. The blitz started at 11:15 with three games played at a time! The games were equal and fair with some thrilling encounters involving both sides.
One of the standout games was St David's vs GCC in game one with end to end action, both teams went for goals galore. John Byrne scored a great point powering through with the ball and taking the point, then a moment of magic from Conor O’Farrell with a goal to seal the game 5.02. to 5.01.
St David’s team 3 were the standout team who proved to be invincible and go on to win the blitz, they had great team spirit and used good hand passing every game to ensure they kept possession and became victorious. Everybody in the team played their part from goalkeeper to forwards and deserved the win.
Thank you to everyone who participated and to the amazing coaches Mr. Short and Mr. Lawless for organising this and coaching the team. Also a huge thank you to Eire Óg for letting us use their facilities.
