On Monday, the 2nd of March our girls’ camogie team faced Grange CC. The girls fought hard which led to their impressive victory.
The first half opened with a point from Moya Marrinan, and just seconds later Jennifer Coyle scored a goal from the opposition's puck out. Niamh Holohan made an amazing tackle which led to more scores from St. David’s and within just ten minutes they were up by 2 goals and two points. Tessa Mullins made a great tackle and then made an amazing pass to Moya, which led to St. David’s scoring another goal. Jennifer Coyle made a fantastic attacking play up the field scoring an excellent goal. St. David’s proceeded to score another goal and three points which closed the first half with a score of 5:8 - 0:0
Mr. Crowe gave an inspirational speech telling the girls to keep up the effort and hard work in the second half. The girls returned to the pitch ready to start the second half.
The second half began with St. David’s conceding a point, but the girls turned it up a notch and got the ball back up the pitch leading to Jennifer Coyle once again scoring a goal. Unfortunately, Grange CC scored another point but Julianne Creamer made a run up the pitch which led Éibhín Walsh scoring a spectacular goal into the bottom left corner. St. David’s scored another four points and to finish off the match Ciara Fitzgerald made a great attacking play up the field up the pitch, passing to Moya Marrinan who scored the final goal, making the score 8:12 - 0:2 to St. David’s.
This is an outstanding win for our girl’s camogie team and shows real progression from their last match. A huge thanks to Mr. Crowe for his amazing coaching of the girls and a massive thank you to Grange CC for travelling down to play us.
