On Thursday the 19th of December, St David's held our annual Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Barretstown. Students were encouraged to wear fun festive Christmas jumpers or Christmas colours. In order to take part each student had to bring in €2 which was then counted by a couple of TY students who are a part of this year's Barretstown team.
The charity the TYs were raising money for is called Barretstown, a non-profit organisation based in Kildare. It runs free residential camps for children and their families affected by serious childhood illness. They offer a range of adventurous, fun and challenging activities which are supported behind the scenes by 24 hour on site medical and nursing care. This year a team of forty transition year students are taking on their TY programme next April.
Teachers, students and staff members all got dressed up in their Christmas jumpers and created a great festive environment across the school. The transition year students had a blast at their Christmas party which included a fun quiz organised by four students, and watching a Christmas movie all together.
All together it was a wonderful day full of festive cheer. Thank you to all who supported this fundraising event!
