Delphi Trip 2026!
On Sunday morning at 7:15, the 2nd years met up in the Sports Arena. They then left the school for a 2 hour trip to the Galway Plaza, where they had Supermacs. Everyone got back on the bus for another 2 hour trip through the Mweelrea mountains. Everyone arrived at Delphi, ready for their first activities.
Some of the students went off to the bog, where they navigated both freezing cold temperatures and obstacles. The bogs went up through the woods and ended in a freshwater lake. Nearly everyone got in, washed off and enjoyed the obstacle course. Everyone had an opportunity to participate in every activity throughout the 3 days.
Some other students across different times included a small bus up the road to a lake, where people got in and kayaked down the lake, pushing against the high winds, ending at a little island, filled with seaweed.
Others went up through the woods with a map, orienteering and found each point on the map. Afterwards they participated in a game of tag archery, where the students shot soft arrows at each other.
The last activity was climbing and abseiling where students got harnessed up, and climbed a wall with the help of their friends. The students then walked up a tower and descended with the help of the instructors, down the wall.
Each night they either went on a forest walk or enjoyed a campfire - everyone had a great time despite the weather! After, everyone gathered in the grub hub and had either a cookie or a jam doughnut.
Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the food too. On Tuesday afternoon, after one last activity, they departed Delphi and headed back to the Galway plaza. We arrived back in Greystones at around 9:00 and everyone had a great time!
Thank you to our Year Head, Mr. O'Donnchadha, and to each of the teachers who made the trip possible!
