First Year Boys' Rugby vs Greystones

On the 3rd of October, the first year boys played against the Greystones rugby u14s team in their annual match, on Greystones Rugby Club's main pitch. From the beginning of the match, the atmosphere was electric with the stand full of supporters. As the match began,  Robbie Willis had an incredible line break, managing to pass the ball to Hugh Owens, who then sent it to Hugo Collier for a try. The early score set the tone, but GRFC weren't going down without a fight.

The match was a back an forth battle full of fearless tackling, passing, kicking, clever offloads, rucks and mauls with both sides having moments of individual brilliance. Greystones RFC responded with relentless pressure, but Saint David's held firm when it mattered, most with hooker Adam Corrigan alongside flanker David Brennan and #8 Ryan Synnott playing key defensive roles. Isa Irwin, Fionn Fitzgerald (also scored a try), Cormac Megannety, Ethan Oman, and Finn Gilmore all playing brilliantly, offering creative line breaks. On the wings was Sean O’Ruarke and Paddy Johnston who offered speed to the attack lines, and full back Robbie Willis who sealed the win with two well taken tries. The final score was St. David's 26 to Greystones RFC 12.

As the final whistle blew, the evening was not over for the boys. Both teams gathered after the match to have pizza in the club house, which underlined what the evening was really about: community, team spirit and a shared love of the sport. Thank you so much to Greystones Rugby Club for hosting this great event and to the coaches and players who were involved. Well done lads!
