First year soccer girls Vs. Presentation Wexford

On the 18th of November, our first year soccer girls faced off against Presentation Wexford. Both teams were ready to kick off at 10:45, prepared to play their cup match despite the extremely cold weather, fair play girls!

In the first half, we saw great defence and pressure from our side. Our captain, Megan Driver created amazing plays that almost put us ahead, we saw exceptional saves by Emie Free also.

Unfortunately, in the last minutes of the first half we conceded two goals but our girls’ didn’t let their heads drop.

Both teams went into the second half with their game faces on, ready to play some great football for the next twenty five. Presentation Wexford scored again, leading to a 3-0 scoreline but St. David’s weren't finished. Well done to Millie O’Neill for putting us back in the contest with a well taken goal, and to our defence for skilfully stopping any of Presentation Wexford’s attacks. Making the score 3-2, we saw a brilliant goal by Katie Ward. The full time whistle then blew, and we were just short of securing another goal. Nonetheless, well done girls!

Thank you to Mr. O’Donnchadha for coaching our girls this far into the cup and to Megan Driver for being the captain the girls needed to bring back up the score!
