St. Davids and Coláiste Raithín's Junior Boys merged together to form a hurling team to play against Oatlands College.
While we do not have the numbers to have our own hurling team or have training take place weekly, we still take every match opportunity for our students, allowing those who play hurling outside of school to play against other schools too. Mr. Egan organizes these matches and we thank him and Coláiste Raithín's boys for teaming up with us for a truly victorious result.
It was a sunny Wednesday morning and the Junior Boys Hurling team was ready to challenge the Oatlands College team. The atmosphere on the bus was great, with both our boys and CR's boys having a blast. When we arrived the Oatlands College grounds, the weather suddenly changed from the warm sunny morning to a cloudy and slightly windy one, either way it was still a great day for a hurling match.
There was a short twenty five minute warm up where the St. David’s and Coláiste Ráithín boys could get to meet one another before their game began. Afterwards, the match kicked off.
After the end of the first half our team was ahead and you could tell this matchup would surely lead to a victory for our team. After an absolutely brilliant first half, the lads outdid themselves in the second with a final result of 4-22 to 5-8 to St. David’s. The captain was Darragh Shannon who had a great performance in defence, and on the day truly earned his captain status.
