On the 18th of November, our Junior Boys' football team took on Presentation Bray in what proved to be a fierce game. Our Junior Boys came into this match with high hopes for a win, in need of a good confidence boost after their last loss.
Despite the freezing conditions, the boys enthusiastically warmed up ready to give this game their best shot. The boys showed amazing team work with great passing and communication.
Conor McLaughlin opened the score line for St. David’s with a bottom corner goal assisted by Luca Martin. Only minutes later, Jack Corrigan then scored. He was assisted by a pass from the defensive line and he managed to skilfully carry it to the goal. Conor McLaughlin, assisted by the keeper, scored again. Oisin Duff then joined the train of success and scored making the score 4-0 twenty minutes in. Ben McClaren also scored from a pass by Oisin, ending the first half at 5-0 to David’s.
At half time, the boys knew they needed to keep up the hard work in order to hold their winning streak. Pres Bray unfortunately managed to score quickly after the whistle blew for the second half from a direct free kick. Damiano Martin and Conor Shevlin held a strong defense line putting the pressure back on Pres assisting great attacks. Pres scored again making it 5-2. The David's lads kept their focus and continued to persevere. Conor Mclaughlin scored again from a corner making the score 6-2.
With three minutes left of the game and tensions rising between opposing teams, Ciaran scored making the score 7-2, which finalised the win for St. David's. After all the hard work the boys have been putting in at training they got the recognition they deserve from this win.
A massive thank you to their coach Mr. Cahill for the time he put into this team of hard working boys and to Greystones United for use of their facilities. Well done lads.
