On the 12th of May, our Junior Boys’ rugby team took on Bridgetown College in the Southeast final, knowing that victory would seal sporting immortality for the school.
The match kicked off early in the day and St David’s applied the pressure from the first minute. The lads were playing fantastic rugby leading them to score the first try early in the game thanks to fine work from Jude Leahy. St David’s continued with the intensity and persisted, scoring 5 more tries in the first half from Jude Leahy, Dafydd Davies, Aaron Doherty and Jorge Duch Gomez.
Bridgetown showed why they had put together an impressive run to make it to the final, scoring a try soon after but great defence from the lads stopped them from coming back into the game. With some great tries and conversions the first half ended 31-7.
The second half was evenly matched with Bridgetown securing two more tries but they couldn’t regain the lead as St David’s scored four more tries, ending this enthralling matchup 55-21 to St David’s.
Thank you to Mr Davies, Mr Cahill and Mr Brady for coaching and congratulations to the lads for a fantastic win in the final!
