On the 5th of November, our Junior Girls Gaelic team played a match against Dominican College in the St. Patrick’s GAA club pitch in Wicklow.
The match kicked off at 11:00 with an unfortunate start as a goal was scored by the opposite team very early on. But the girls weren’t disheartened and even though they were falling behind they scored a terrific goal by Ciara L and a point by Emily. Dominican College retaliated with two more goals and three points but the girls powered through with great skill and teamwork and another three goals were scored, 2 by Ciara L and the other by Ciara F. The first half ended with St. David's in the lead with 4 goals and 1 point to Dominican College’s 3 goals and 3 points.
After an encouraging talk, by Mr. Geoghegan the team went into the second half full of inspiration. The team continued to excel and kept up the standard with great performances ending in points scored by players such as Moya and Emily. Another point and goal were scored by Dominican College but it was too little too late as St. David's were too far in the lead. Ending off the match were more fantastic goals scored by Ciara L and Niamh H bringing the final score to 7 goals 5 points to St. David's and 4 goals 4 points to Dominican College.
A well deserved win for the team’s spectacular performance, and many thanks to Dominican College for the game, St. Patrick's GAA club for facilitating the match and Mr. Geoghegan for coaching the girls. Keep up the good work!
