Junior Girls Soccer vs St Marks

On a cold, cloudy morning on the 21st of October, our Junior Girls' soccer team travelled down to Tallaght to play against St Mark's in what proved to be a convincing win.

St David's started strong with excellent goals from Mae Browner and Laoise O’Gorman in the first 25 minutes. These were assisted by brilliant plays from Emily O Driscoll and the amazing St David’s goal keeper Hazel Prendergast. The girls continued dominating the play, winning possession in every tackle. St David’s ended the first half off on high with another goal from Laoise O’Gorman. Laoise then went on to get a hat-trick, after scoring yet another goal from a brilliant long shot.

After giving themselves a comfortable lead, the girls returned to play confidently in the second half. Alanna Synnott put up a supreme defense, leaving no room for St Mark's to score. After being awarded a corner, Naoise Morris managed to expertly get the ball in the net. This brought the score to 6-0.

Unfortunately, St Mark's finally managed to fight back, scoring from a well taken corner. However this was a singular event and thanks to great saves by Hazel Prendergast, no more goals were conceded. Ending the match on a high, Allison Moran scored two great goals.

Overall the girls played fantastic, we hope they take this win into the remainder of their matches this year and continue to perform exceptionally. Special well done to Captain Grace O’Neill for leading the girls to victory. Thank you to their coach Mr. Geoghegan and to Tallaght for hosting the game. Well done girls!
