Live at the Seafront 2025

On May 7th, the St David’s school community gathered together for ‘Live at the Seafront’, our premiere celebration of artistic talent throughout the school. The night began with a stellar performance of Mickey Guyton’s ‘All American’ from Lucy, Mia, Sarah, Ewan and Coen, setting the tone for what proved to be an amazing night. We were then treated to effortlessly dovetailing harmonies from Caitlin and Chloe singing ‘Killeagh’ while fellow 6th Year Freya delivered a soulful rendition of ‘Son of a Preacher Man’.

We were fortunate enough to be joined by students from our Welsh partner school, Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern, and a number of their pupils delivered a remarkable acrobatic dance sequence while their majorettes routine was impeccable. The scope of their talents were on full display with their enchanting rendition of Welsh poem, ‘Llefaru’, only further confirmed by their stirring singing of their final song, ‘Cymru, Lloeger Lletwith’.

Our TY musical cast wowed the town earlier this year with their production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and they returned for one last song together as their version of ‘You Will be Found’ reminded us all of their incredible voices. Our students continued to make Broadway proud as Aoibh cast a spell on the audience with ‘The Wizard and I’ from Wicked.

Junior students Aaron, Eli, Dylan and Jack treated us to a throwback classic, singing ‘When I Come Around’ while Cian, Raife and Jake continued the Green Day homage with ‘Brain Stew’. Ewan, Coen, Ferghal and James rocked the venue with a grunge-infused production of ‘Tornado Soul’, while Ewan returned with Miles, Aaron and Lucas to send the crowd wild with ‘Hysteria’. Our guitar set concluded with Willow, Aleksandr, Aaron, Lucas and Ewan’s revolutionary version of ‘Farewell to the Playground’.

In a complete change of tone, 1st Years Chloe and Sadie captivated the audience with a magical arrangement of ‘Stranger’, as did sisters Ava and Sofia, whose deft harmonies in ‘I Love You’ delighted all present. Our 5th Years showcased their remarkable gifts, as Joe serenaded the entire room with a heartfelt performance of ‘Hornets’ while Sofia’s piano solo was as delicate as it was memorable. Our resident trad group of Siun, Fionn and Ailbhe’s Irish jig was a toe-tapping crowd-pleaser, as was the pitch-perfect melancholic ‘Parting Glass’, served up by our school choir.

The night concluded with the St David’s Music Club (featuring Paul and Travis), delivering an upbeat version of Johnny B. Goode, wrapping up what proved to be a hugely entertaining night. Thanks to all the teachers involved in preparing students for their performances!
