On Wednesday the 4th of October, the Minor Girls Soccer team played a match against Greystones Community College. The match commenced at 10:30 am and was held in Greystones United Football Club grounds. The team was coached by Mr Geoghehan.
The first half began and St David's received a few corners but no goals were scored despite the team's best efforts. The tensions were high as both teams were fighting for a goal. David's had an immense defensive line. Another few shots from St David's were blocked by the GCC goalie followed by a GCC goal scored from a corner just before half time.
In the second half St David's came back stronger. David's goal was scored by Grace O'Neill, from inside the box. After Grace's goal, St David's were fouled in the box and were awarded a penalty. Laoise O’ Gorman took the penalty and scored. This goal was followed by another goal from Grace O’ Neill making the score 3-1 to St David's. Soon after GCC scored another goal, but St David's kept up great defense until the final whistle.
The final score of the match was a 3-2 win to St David's Minor Girls Soccer team. Well done to everyone involved!
