On the 7th of October, we gathered in the sports arena for our highly anticipated whole school mass. This was an occasion filled with love and well wishes for the coming year.
The mass began with our talented school choir singing a beautiful song, led by Mr. Noonan and Ms. Cronly. Fr. Bernardo and Fr. Moses then welcomed the students, teachers and staff. Members of all religions were invited to see the important messages discussed by teachers and students.
Our head boy and head girl, Kate and Rían, spoke of the importance of our school community coming together even stronger throughout this year. As well as that they talked about friendship and the importance of supporting one another.
Transition Year students, Clark, Jennifer, Hannah and Alannah described the importance of core symbols that were brought up to symbolise the strength we will attain during this essential academic year. These symbols included an olive branch, painted rocks, water, and more. Ms. Woods then led her traditional music group in song during the mass on a few different occasions, which added a cultural touch that added greatly to the occasion, and was lovely to listen to.
Prayers of the faithful were led by Caroline, Cian, Sal, Una, Lisa and Matthew. Communion was then held, all students were invited to take communion in the name of God. Sean Costello of 5th year concluded this with communion reflection, reading a self-written poem that was both inspirational and very thoughtful.
Kate and Rían closed our mass followed by Fr. Moses, who concluded with the most important message of all, the importance of friendship and how we have guardian angels all around us - our teachers who sacrifice so much for us and care enough to put us before themselves.
Overall our whole school mass was a beautiful occasion, leaving every student hopeful for the year to come. Thank you to everyone involved, in particular Fr. Bernardo, Fr. Moses, members of the Religion department, and to the students and teachers who allowed this occasion to be so successful.
