Senior Boys Football Vs Arklow

On Tuesday the 7th of October, our Senior Boys' football team took on Arklow in a fierce game, that took place on the Arklow Town astro pitch. The match kicked off under cloudy skies at 11 o’clock.

The lads had an unlucky start, with the play favouring Arklow. Two goals were conceded, yet the boys held their heads high and played their hardest. At half time, they were not disheartened. After an enlightening and motivational talk from their coach Mr. Doyle, the lads were ready to go.

As the second half began the boys brought the score to 2-1 with an exceptional header by Connor McLaughlin, after an amazingly well aimed cross by Jack Corrigan. Unfortunately, Arklow kept strong and scored another, bringing it up to 3-1. In the dying embers of the game, Luca Martin fought hard to win the ball back. He skillfully managed to cross a low ball to Luca Kelly who expertly finished the ball in the back of the net. This brought the final score to 3-2 to Arklow.

Although the lads didn’t win, their teamwork and expertise was clear to see. They will be able to take the lessons they learned from this match through to the remainder of the year, and hopefully get the recognition they deserve through many victories. A massive thank you to their coach Mr. Doyle and the Arklow team for the venue and great match. Well done lads.
