Senior Boys Rugby Blitz 18/9/25

On Thursday the 18th of September our Senior Rugby Boys, coached by Mr. Davies and Dave Griffin, set off to bring home wins from Energia Park in Donnybrook in a rugby blitz including five other Leinster schools.

The lads started their morning with a tough match against Malahide Community School. The ball quickly found Malahide’s half after an excellent throw in from David’s. Malahide had a very strong defense line but St. David's continued to play wide. After an intense back and fourth, right winger James Ward made a great press, allowing Cillian Brady to score an impressive try, making the final score 5-0 to David’s.

For the penultimate match, St. David’s started with receiving the ball from Hartstown Community School. After just 2 minutes from kick off we saw a brilliant try from Aaron Doherty, leaving us 5 points ahead. St. David’s, without a doubt, had the most possession and with that, we saw a try from Dafydd Davies which Jude Leahy then converted, bringing the score to 12-0. From a David’s throw a brilliant play emerged between Cillian Brady and James Ward, ending with an excellent try scored by James. This left the full time score of the second match as 17-0 to David’s.

Going into the last match, both St. David’s and St. Colmcille’s Community School were undefeated. David’s started with receiving once again and we put up a great defense, however with St. Colmcille close to our try line, we unluckily conceded five points from their try. David’s put on the pressure and with perseverance, Levi Morgan made an amazing breakthrough bringing the score to 5-5 with a great try which Jude Leahy then converted, bringing the score to 5-7. It was a very tough match, and St. David’s fought until the end, the final score of the last match was 19-7 to St. Colmcille’s Community School.
