Senior Rugby Blitz In Energia Park, Donnybrook

On the 2nd of October, our Senior Boys' Rugby team travelled to Donnybrook for a rugby blitz. They had three 15 minute matches, winning 2 and losing 1. They completed a short warm up in preparation for their 3 matches.

Their first match was against St.David's, Artane. The team started off very well with all players putting in good tackles and working hard. This led them to score an early try to put them 5-0 in the lead. However they unfortunately missed the conversion going narrowly wide. They didn't slow down after their first try, they kept pushing leading to their second try which was scored by Jack Mitchell. This gave them a comfortable lead and they began to relax into the game. Finally Dafydd Davies scored one final try to seal the deal. The final score was a comfortable 15-0 victory for St.David's Greystones.

Their second game was against Malahide Community College. The team was filled with confidence from the last game. Both sides started quickly and both teams were evenly matched. However Malahide managed to score the first try and conversion to put them 7 in the lead. This try was closely followed by another making it 14-0 to Malahide. The team didn't give up and kept fighting hard, putting in tackles and making hard runs. Despite this, Malahide still managed to score one last try to make it 21-0. The team didn't let this get to their heads and prepared for their next match.

Their third and final game was against St.Paul's. The team had a great start putting them under loads of pressure. This high energy start clearly paid off as Noah Morgan scored a try within the first minute. This was followed by a perfect kick making it 7-0 to David's. However, after the team conceded a penalty in a dangerous area, St.Paul's scored easily making it 7-3. After the quick start the game began to settle down with both teams evenly matching each other. Towards the end Dafydd Davies scored another great try and rounded off a great team performance. Although the conversion was missed it still extended their lead by 5. They settled into the rest of the game winning comfortably 12-3.

Overall it was a great day out for the team winning 2 games and losing 1. Thanks to the coaches Mr. Davies and Dave.
