St David's Senior Boys' Gaelic Football Vs East Glendalough

On Thursday 6th of March, St David's Senior Boys' Gaelic Football team took on East Glendalough in the quarter final of the Wicklow B Cup. The game started off with both sides battling to secure a lead. St David's had a close opportunity at the beginning of the game with a shot which narrowly missed the post to open the scoring. However, David's hard work was soon rewarded with a point from Cillian Brady. St David's were unlucky to concede a goal soon after, but managed to fight back to score two points in quick succession to equalise the game. However, after a couple of more unlucky concessions, the first half finished 0-6 : 4-1.

The lads began the second half against the wind, but did well to bring the score back. After conceding a penalty, it looked like the game was gone for David's, but they never dropped their heads and managed to fight back. David's fought like tigers during the second half, winning most battles and keeping the ball in the opposition half. They managed to win and score a penalty, and kept chipping away at East Glendalough’s lead. Only minutes to go however, with only three points between the teams, David's were unlucky to have concede an unfortunate score and when the ref blew the whistle to end the game. Despite losing the game 2-10 : 5-4, David's should be proud of their performance, with Cilian Brady and Darragh Shannon playing especially well.

Overall, David's were very unlucky and should be very proud of their performance, especially considering that they came very close to catching up with East Glendalough’s first half lead.
