Below is a report from Alannah Lynch, a member of Red Kite Racing, our F1 in schools team
We arrived bright and early at 7:45 AM to begin setting up our pit display. Once everything was in place, we had the chance to explore the impressive displays from teams across the country. The opening ceremony kicked off at 9:40, setting the tone for an exciting day ahead.
Judging began at 10:00, and we faced three rounds: enterprise, brand identity, and engineering. At 10:45, we delivered our 10-minute team speech, showcasing all the hard work and dedication we’ve put into the project so far.
With judging complete, the racing segment began. Our first race was scheduled for 12:30, and Liam, our driver, completed four heats—achieving the fastest reaction time of the day.
After the races, we dismantled our pit display and made our way to the awards ceremony, which started at 3:00 PM. A variety of awards were presented, and we were thrilled to win Fastest Reaction Time and Best Portfolios. We were also nominated for the Best Verbal Presentation award.
Finally, it was time to announce the top three teams who would qualify for the World Finals in Singapore this September. Third and second place were revealed—then, to our absolute surprise and excitement, Red Kite Racing was announced as the overall winners of the 2025 F1 in Schools Ireland National Finals. Our entire team and staff were overjoyed with the result.
Huge congratulations to team members Alannah Lynch, Sarah Walker, Deaglan O'Neill, Eoin O'Neill, Conor Hawkins, Liam Simpson, as well as their teachers, Mr. Timlin, Mr. Kehoe and Ms. Brosnan
