Virgin Media in St David's for the Inauguration of Former Student - An Taoiseach, Simon Harris

Today we witnessed the election of Mr Simon Harris, distinguished alumnus of St David's Secondary School as Taoiseach. Mr Carey and Ms Brosnan were both in the Dáil for this historic occasion.

Mr Harris was a past-pupil of our school from 1998-2004 during which time he engaged in all sorts of activities including debating, Young Scientist, and became head boy and student of the year in his final year 2004-2004.  From an early age, he engaged in advocacy in relation to the rights of those with Autism.

There was great excitement in the school as TV cameras appeared, interviews were conducted between Zara King from Virgin Media, and with the school's Deputy Principals, Louise O'Sullivan and Huw Davies, Mr Harris's former teachers, Ms Crossan and Ms Kane and current students Lisa Garcia (Head Girl), Matthew Lawless (Head Boy), Paul McGloughlin and Alannah Gallagher.  They were delighted to contribute to this event with Virgin Media on this very prestigious day.  The voting was watched by the Politics and Society students and his election was greeted with a most enthusiastic applause.  We wish Taoiseach Simon Harris, every blessing and good wish in the future exercise of his role on behalf of all the people of our country.
