On Wednesday the 17th of September our 1st Year boys travelled to Wicklow RFC and took on the East Glendalough team. After an enthusiastic and motivating warmup led by Neil Megannety and Mr. Byrne, the lads were in the zone and ready to go.
The match kicked off and St David’s applied pressure from the first minute. It was a strong start for David’s, taking the attack. Hugh Owens scored the first try for David's, with Isa Irwin finishing it with a great conversion.
After that first try, David's could not be stopped. With Hugh Owens scoring two, Robbie Willis running the length of the pitch scoring one and Cormac Megannety picking up yet another, all in the first half!
After a convincing first half, the boys kept up the exceptional standard. Adding two more tries to the collection, scored by Harvey Ward and Fionn Fitzgerald who both made great runs up the wing. The play was incredible, the tackling and passing was top notch. A special mention to Ryan Synnott who cleared any ruck he could get his hands on. The final score was 38-5. The boys as a team displayed fantastic teamwork and commitment. Well done lads!
