On the 25th of September the first year girls rugby team and coach Ms.Collins headed out to Dublin to take part in a rugby blitz against other schools in the region. The girls' blitz was played throughout the day and consisted of playing a total of 7 matches. The girls showed great teamwork and team spirit throughout the day, walking away with an impressive 4 victories and 1 draw.
The girls started the day off with a victory against Loreto Foxrock with an incredible try from Emma Roth. Shortly after Elliana Stokes scored a further try, securing saint David's lead. The second match the girls braved was against Holy Faith Clontarf Team 8. Neither side could claim victory, so the match ended in a draw.
The next game was against Holy Faith Clontarf Team 7, where David's experienced their first defeat of the day after putting up a great battle on the pitch. The girls had a long gap between matches, allowing Ms.Collins to pick them up with an incredible pep talk which led them to a long winning streak of 3 matches.
The fourth match was against Holy Faith Clontarf Team 5 where Lucia Brock scored an amazing try, running up all the way from her own try line. The next 2 tries were both scored by Mia, and then Elliana sealed the deal with another try winning the match 4-1.
The fifth match was against Holy Faith Clontarf Team 6 where Elliana got another 2 phenomenal tries resulting in another win for David's, 2-0.
The sixth match was against De la Salle, where David's continued there winning streak from getting 2 tries, thanks to Lucia and Zara. The last match was against Loreto Foxrock, where the girls both battled hard be were eventually defeated.
This was the girls' first match playing for St David's and as a school we are very proud of them.We are really excited to see you as a team grow so keep up the hard work! Best of luck throughout the year and a special congratulations to player of the match, Elliana whose performances were consistently spectacular throughout the day as she scored a remarkable 4 tries.
