2nd Year Boys Gaelic Vs GCC

On Friday the 11th of September, our second year boys took on GCC down in Eire Óg. The match proved to be one filled with lots of ups and downs.

GCC had the wind in the first half which helped them start well and go 3 points up, but the lads kept working and found a goal through Conor O’Farrell that saw them get back to level. Points from Ryan Goff

and Chris O’Brien clawed David's to just six points down going into the second half.

The lads shot out of the traps in the second half rattling off 3 points through Conor Keavney and Conor O’Farrell. A great save from Liam Waters kept them in the game. GCC kept the foot down which meant the lads had to work 10 times harder and a goal from Sean Levins made it look like David’s were going to win. However after a few unlucky breaks hitting the woodwork twice, GCC mounted a counter attack and scored a sucker punch blow. The lads were determined, displaying incredible resilience. They kept working to the final whistle. Conor Keavney scored a great point from range but it just wasn’t enough in the end, the final score was David's 3-11, to GCC 5-09.

A massive thank you goes to Alan Maxwell for a well-refereed match and for Mr. Short for taking the time to coach the boys. The lads learned many lessons today, which will result in more positive results in the future that reflect the hard work they put in. Onwards and upwards for the team!
