2nd Year GAA match vs Portlaoise College

This Wednesday, the 17th of December, our 2nd year boys Gaelic football team faced Portlaoise College in an away match. The teams were neck in neck the whole match, but unfortunately it wasn’t the boys day.

The first half kicked off with goals from both sides, and when it came to half time there was only 2 points in the difference. The boys were given a motivational team talk by coach Mr. Short. They faced rain and a very mucky pitch, but persevered through their disadvantage, with John Byrne as the top scorer.

The second half saw goals from John Byrne and Conor Keaveny, pulling the lads into the lead. Chris O’Brien and John Byrne kept tipping up the score, but unfortunately Portlaoise were able to match us until the end, pulling ahead in the last few minutes and the Davids’ team lost by a few points. The loss sadly knocked the lads out of the championship, as it was the quarter final.

As always, a big thank you to coach Mr. Short and Portlaoise College for giving us a very competitive match. Well done to the boys for the great fight they put up.
