Christmas Concert 2025!

On Friday the 19th of December, we closed out the calendar year with one final show-stopping event: our annual Christmas concert!

Mr. Carey began the day by welcoming everyone, reminding us all of the special quality that Christmas possesses - that it is the season of family, respect and, ultimately, love. He also spoke about the unifying nature of the season, regardless of our individual backgrounds whilst also highlighting the importance of celebrating the birth of Jesus. Our Senior Liaison team took up this theme, retelling the Christmas story from over 2000 years ago of His birth - reminding us that the search for truth leads to hope and peace.

Deputies Paddy and Ellie launched what proved to be a day consisting of a veritable selection box of musical delicacies. The music club kicked off proceedings with a lively rendition of Rocking Around The Christmas Tree, followed by a poignant piano solo rendition of Hallelujah by Emma, joined by Mr. Lynch on guitar. A change of tempo was introduced thanks to Ewan and James’ performance of Dublin band The Scratch’s Another Round, then Aaron, Will, Ewan and James’ Foofighters homage with Everlong. Arkleen then powerfully performed I’ll Rust With You by Steam Power Giraffe while the breadth of talent on show was reflected in the lilting tones of Ms. Wood’s trad group’s medley of traditional airs including Silent Night and Ding Dong Merrily on High.

Deputy Principals Ms. O’Sullivan congratulated the performers on the talent on display, as well as the enthusiastic audience. She also encouraged everyone to consider participating in future opportunities to share their giftings. Ms. O’Sullivan thanked the sound and set up teams, who put in incredible work behind the scenes. She concluded by wishing everyone a restful Christmas.

Following Ms. O’Sullivan’s Christmas messages, the musical talent showcase continued unabated. Willow, Ewan, Aaron and Emily sang Fill In The Blank by Car Seat Headrest with incomparable gusto, which was followed by a pitch-perfect duet from Chloe and Sadie’s Remember When by The Heathers. It wouldn’t be a Christmas concert without a piano solo from virtuoso Tom, supported by James on drums, who wowed the audience with his impeccable festive piece. Miles closed out the individual student performances with the timeless classic Hopelessly Devoted To You.

Mr. Carey thanked each member of the school community - students and staff - for their contribution to daily life throughout the term. He reminded us of the importance of the values that are foundational to St David’s - reflected in our arts, sports, ethos and academic pursuits. Mr. Carey encouraged us all to use this Christmas season to show the love and appreciation of those in our lives that support us, especially over the holidays. Mr. Carey then concluded by wishing everyone in the St. David’s community a safe, peaceful and happy Christmas.

To conclude the musical acts, we were treated to performances of Northern Lights and Christmas Lullaby by the school choir that were simultaneously rich and captivating. As is tradition, the teacher band wrapped up the day with a song of their own, this time with an enthusiastic version of All I Want for Christmas, ably supported by the entire sports hall.
