Dominican College Wicklow vs St David’s - 1st Year Girls GAA

On Tuesday the 2nd December, our 1st Year Girls' GAA team went up against Dominican College, Wicklow in a friendly match. Both sides played exceptionally well, and David’s came out victorious in the end.
Once the match commenced, the pressure was on and Dominican held possession of the ball, scoring the first point of the match. The David’s girls stepped up with fierce defence and excellent coordination. David's scored an incredible goal soon after, followed by a point and a further two goals, all scored by Millie O’Neill, putting the scoreboard at 3-1 0-1. Dominican felt the pressure and fought hard, but they were no match for David’s who scored another point by Nancy Grealis and a goal by Ella Moran.
St David’s had a smashing first half, with a score of 4-2 0-1 just a couple minutes in. Dominican ramped up their attack and were met with strong defense by David’s, and two great saves by the goalie. Dominican scored another point before David’s got another goal putting the scores at 5-2 0-2. Ella Moran and Millie O’Neill scored two goals and a point before the whistle was blown, putting the first half scoreboard at 6-3 0-2.
Soon after the second half started, Dominican scored their first goal. Not long after, David’s matched them with a point and a goal, making it 7-4 1-2 to David’s. Dominican didn’t let David’s away with an easy lead and did their best to catch up, scoring 4 goals and a point in quick succession, making the score 8-4 5-2. David’s kept their heads up and defended well.
Ella Moran scored two more goals before Dominican scored two points and a goal near the end of the match. To finish off, David’s saved a penalty in the last minute, and the final score was 10-4 6-4. Well done to players of the match Millie O’Neill and Ella Moran, who scored a whopping 12 points each.
Well done to the 1st Year Girls and coach Mr. Cummins on their excellent win against Dominican College. Best of luck for the rest of the season!
