On Friday the 5th of December, the creative writing group and the first years gathered in the library for a workshop by the amazing Eilish Fisher, who is the author of the novel Fia and the Last Snowdeer.
The main topic of the workshop was to educate the students on creating their own stories. She talked about the structure of how to write a book, and the creative process involved. She also spoke about herself and her personal journey as an author.
As well as that she discussed topics such as how music can affect your thoughts and the way you write, how to handle criticism and how to effectively put your emotions into words. She mentioned ways for the students to become published authors and how to write a story using the five act method.
Towards the end of the workshop the students completed an activity in which they listened to different types of music and had to write down whatever the music made them think or how it made them feel. The students also had the fantastic opportunity to ask important questions and buy signed copies of her book.
Overall this was a great experience for every student involved, encouraging them to use their creative skills and enhancing their knowledge of literature and how to get involved in writing. A massive thank you to Eilish Fisher for taking the time to work with our students!
