On the 26th of January 2026, St. David’s celebrated their Junior Cycle Class of 2025. Each student's grades were congratulated and every student who received a distinction was additionally presented with an award.
Our students outdid themselves this year and made the school proud as our total student cohort achieved an outstanding 201 distinctions! This is 17.63%, which is double the national average of 8.65%. We also saw an amazing number of higher merits awarded to our students, with a remarkable 464 being attained altogether. Every student who completed the Junior Cycle course should be proud of themselves and the results this year were exceptional.
There were some more awards to be given out, such as the Leah Little award and class awards. From 3A, the class winner was Lucas O’Sullivan who got the maximum results of ten distinctions. The winner of 3B was Faye Healy with an impressive 7 distinctions. Freddie Simpson won in his class, 3C, with a fantastic 8 distinctions. Last but not least came 3D, with Abi Breathnach and Laoise O’Gorman sharing the award as they both received an exemplary 7 distinctions. A further shoutout goes to Melanie Porter and James Ward who got 8 distinctions and to Hugh Woodley who received 9!
The Leah Little Award is a very special award that is given to the student with the most distinctions. Leah Little was a former student of the school who unfortunately passed after her junior cert and the award is one that is close to our hearts. The winner of this was Lucas O’Sullivan who accomplished the best results possible with 10 distinctions!
Well done to every student who completed the Junior Cycle, and thank you to all the staff for organising this event.
