On Thursday the 7th of November, Mr Davies' Junior Girls Rugby team, accompanied by Ms Coleman, headed to the hallowed Leinster turf of Donnybrook for their Blitz. The blitz included 5 matches. The matches were 7 aside and lasted 7 minutes per half.
The girls started off the day with a dominant victory against Edmund Rice's second team. The end score being 55-10 to St David’s. This impressive win gave the girls a great confidence boost and set them up well for the matches to come.
The second match was against Edmund Rice's first team. They were a strong side making this match a lot tougher than the first. The game was all square until the very last play when Edmund Rice got a last minute try to secure the win. The final score was 10-15 to Edmund Rice’s first team.
The girls' third match was against The High School Rathgar. David’s definitely fought hard during this game with some excellent try stopping tackles. In the end the score was 40-20, a comfortable win for David’s.
In the fourth match David’s faced the De La Salle junior team. This game was played on the main pitch with an amazing view of the grounds. The end score was 30-15 to David’s another good win achieved by the girls.
Finally the fifth and final match was played against Mercy Beaumont Juniors. This game was by far the most challenging for the girls as both sides carried injuries. The girls' determination and teamwork got them their last victory over the line, winning with a scoreline of 25-20.
Overall it was a great day out for the Junior Girls at Donnybrook winning 4 out of their 5 games. They can be very proud of this performance. A massive thank you to Mr. Davies for coaching and to Ms. Coleman for accompanying the girls.
