October Whole School Assembly

The second Whole School Assembly of the 2025-26 academic year brought the entire school community together in the sports hall today. Our principal, Mr. Carey, opened the assembly with a warm welcome and a reminder about the new phone policy. This was followed by an opening prayer in both Irish and English.

Then, our Head Girl and Boy, Kate Macadam and Rian O’Gorman, addressed the school. They congratulated students on a successful Open Night, noting that many parents complimented the friendliness of their guides. They also highlighted the school’s F1 Team, who left for Singapore last Wednesday to represent both our school and Ireland in a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Before leaving the podium, they reminded the students of upcoming fundraising events hosted by Team Zambia: a Zambia colours non-uniform day on October 10th, and a quiz night that evening from 7-9pm.

Next, Ms Cronly spoke about our school’s wonderful arts program. She reminded everyone about the 9/12 Photography Exhibition, which is open to all students, teachers, and members of the Past Pupils Union, and congratulated the debate team on their amazing performance at the Leinster Schools Debate Competition. She also talked about how excited she is for the TY musical, which is Shrek the Musical this year, as rehearsals have recently begun.

Mr Brady then gave an update on our sports teams’ recent achievements. He noted that while there had been both wins and a losses, participation and team spirit have been excellent so far. He also wished good luck to the Girls Éire Óg team, the students competing in the U17 Euro qualifiers, and those in the All-Ireland golf qualifiers.

Team Zambia then took the stage to once again encourage students to participate in their fundraising events. As this is our school’s first ever immersion trip, it is a very important occasion and they need everyone’s help to make it possible.

Mr. Davies then reminded students that being late to class without a valid reason would lead to detention, and urged them to always keep their lockers locked. Finally, he closed out the assembly by presenting certificates to the students who contributed to the school’s Creative Writing Publication.
