September 23rd saw St David’s host what is always one of the absolute highlights of our year: Open Night 2025. On an evening filled with energy and excitement, we had the chance to welcome in the Greystones community and put a spotlight on what life in the school is like.
The eagerly awaiting parents, guardians and prospective students were queuing well before 6:00 pm for what proved to be a memorable few hours. Visitors had the chance to explore the ever-developing campus: from our state of the art sports facilities to the creative spaces and scientific labs, there was something for everyone to engage with and be inspired by.
Practical experiences were also on the menu, as the Home Ec department put on a soup-making masterclass (complete with samples), while the Engineering room offered touring families the chance to create 3D printed keyrings. In one of the science labs, guests were even given a demonstration of electrical currents - leaving everyone shocked! Beyond the main school building, current students showed the athletic dimension of St David’s, as guests got involved in mini games of basketball and football.
At 7:15 Mr. Carey gave his speech regarding the opportunities the school offers to all its students, from the facilities to the events such as the annual TY musical. He particularly focused on the four pillars (Academics, Ethos, Arts and Sports) that make the school such a great place to learn. Members of the Senior Liaison team each spoke in further detail about one of the pillars to explain how important they are. To close, Mr. Carey informed the parents how to apply to the school through the new centralised application system.
We would like to thank each and every one of the parents and future students who were able to join us in our Open Night to see a small display of what members of St. David's community experience throughout the year.
As always, thank you to all the students who kindly helped out, as well as the staff members that have been working for the past few weeks to make Open Night possible.
