On Thursday Morning, the 11th of January, St David’s Senior team took on St Kevin’s Community College on Greystones United Astro turf. After a long warm up and an inspiring team talk St David’s were rearing to go. They started the game off very strongly, winning lots of ball and playing some lovely link up plays all around the pitch .The opposition were also causing some threats but nothing the defenders couldn’t handle. After multiple attempts on goal from David’s, it wasn’t long before they scored a well deserved goal, the ball was struck nicely by Luke Van de Burgh towards the top left corner.
The second half commenced with St David's trying to keep playing like they did in the first half. But after just a few minutes the opposition scored multiple goals in quick succession turning the game completely the other way. David's kept trying to hold on and fight back. Luke Van de Bergh managed to get a second of the game, but it was cancelled out from goals scored on the other end. Unfortunately the game ended 6 - 2 to the opposition, kicking St David’s out of the competition.
It was a tough result but well done to the boys who went out there and gave it their all and a big thanks to their coach Mr Egan.
