On Monday 9th of December our Senior Boys Soccer team took on cup rivals Gorey Community School in an away fixture. The lads arrived at 10:15 for their warm up. A quick team talk from the captain Darragh Shannon motivated the lads and they were ready to go for the 10:40 kick-off.
From the first whistle the boys got off to a roaring start, controlling the game and the possession. Then a brilliant first goal was scored, breaking the deadlock and keeping their firm grip on the game. David's player, Tim Phelan, scored the second goal of the match, making it 2-0 going into halftime with goalkeeper OisÃn Waters making some crucial saves and the boys skillfully controlling the midfield.
After the half-time talk from Mr. Doyle the lads were pumped for the second half. Nathan Van den Bergh scored in the first five minutes of the second half which paved the way for the lads to take full control of this game. The boys added three more goals to this tally making it 6-0 with stand out performances coming from Sean Hennelly, Ben Lawlor, Bobby Free and OisÃn Waters.
Overall it was a great performance from the lads in which they will move on to the next round of the cup. A massive thanks to their coach, Mr. Doyle!
